Cost to fix original clock - few thousand dollars. Cost to tape replacement over it - few bucks.

The underlying system that controls the original clock is too complex and became impossible to fix, so an altruistic, concerned soul at a smaller level used their own money/resources to get the job done so that the basic functionality of the original system was still achieved. So...yep.

I’m an office aide for my school, and 1 of my jobs is to get kids for their parents. Three days ago a mom came in bitched the whole time about us (a bunch of kids) helpers and then on her way out yelled WHY DOES THIS SHIT SHOW OF A SCHOOL HAVE NO FUCKING WORKING CLOCKS and while I agree I don’t think I’ll forget that for awhile

Like it's your fault. She should have known better than to throw a fit , swear around kids. I'm guessing that it's the younger kids too, since it's a pick up area. Oh, it's also your fault that her kid is late, tired, and his homework isn't done,

Effective use of tape. Whomever did it obviously has some engineering experience.
