Where I live $1300 rents a single room, no pets or guests, no parking, shares entrance, use of common spaces may or may not be allowed. Small studios start at about $2500. If you agree to live in a literally utility shed with no utilities or power (often called a “commuter room” or find a good deal you might be able to do a little better.
Lol. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. The whole state isn’t that bad though. Although a lot of it, and most of the major cities and a surrounding area of 30-100 miles are pretty bad. If you move away from the city and lower your standards you can start getting more decent pricing. But most of the jobs that pay will require a commute. I work with a lot of people who commute 200-300 miles a day because they wanted to own homes and not be cash strapped. A few people I work with live further and a a small handful just live out of state and fly to work when they need to be in the office and rent a hotel while here. I keep thinking about it. Go live somewhere that you can buy a house for like $100k. A buddy of mine bough 3 homes up north because it was cheaper than 1 home closer and that way he didn’t have to worry about neighbors. That’s kinda extreme though I think.
Wow I'm so glad I live in a tiny town where my rent+utilities for a studio amount to a bit less than 400$. I already loved it there but damn, after looking at this comment section I'm counting my blessings.
Why the hell is that so expensive. Is that apartment or house
those were the days
