Yeah, dying from a broken heart is usually associated with a significant other dying very suddenly and the intense emotional trauma that comes from such an event.
id assume even just them dying wouldnt be enough for the majority of people, more along the lines of watching them die and not having any way of stopping it would be what i would assume is required for such a thing if one didnt have a predisposition in some for like a weak heart or physical damage.

Tbh, as stupid as we were as kids, and as kids are now, the thing about emotional trauma like a break up is its relative. A child physically and emotionally has the capacity to suffer trauma just as significant as an adult has the capacity. So if said foolish child decides to take s break-up, or similar such event severely, there's no one that can stop them. They may not die, because their simply younger and healthier, they could feasibly suffer broken heart strings as well. If their hearts are already weak, it could be fatal. I'm sure that at some time, somewhere, a child has, and we just never realized it was heart failure from a heart-break.

Philosophizing over.
In highschool science doing dissection a friend and I figured out we could play a very quiet guitar tune on a sheep's (i think) heartstrings. Sometimes they can be remarkably tough, others just fell apart.
