I found out that the remains of Pompeii is a tragedy, not just because of what happened. Since it's a tourist local, people have been throwing their trash everywhere and vandalizing the site. Plus, you have thieves make their own excavations to steal shit from new locations before the professionals can.
It's also in bad shape because no one has tried to keep all the murals pristine so they're fading badly.

If I'm going to be wasted like that, I wouldn't mind being found 3,000 years later. Think of the stories they'd imagine...
