Are bandaids supposed to be skin colored? They are always to dark to match my skin, and honestly I'd never even considered they were supposed to blend in. I always just thought bandaids were either fun kid colors or boring adult color, for professionalism or whatever.

That's as white as it gets, not to be aware what "skin colored" means in 99,99% of all cases that expression is used, just because it doesn't 100% fit your tone. No white person that I'm aware of has exactly this light pink color that is usually referred to as "skin color". It's close enough though to not be noticed from a few meters distance. If a black person uses such a band aid, it will stand out like the proverbial sore thumb. If you watch the color of that black guys band aid, it also not 100% the tone of his skin, but it's a lot closer than the "usual" skin tone. I'm pretty sure most brown/black people have been very, very aware of that.
