At least he's considerate, I remember a post once about this guy who's thesis was on his stolen laptop and he'd been working on that for 2 years and couldn't graduate without it

My boyfriend lost his flashdrive with his masters on it, had to do a few chapters and many sketches/diagrams/graphs over (it was close to the end so he just beasted through and didn't take the time to back it up) AND TWO MONTHS AGO WE FOUND IT UNDER THE CAR SEAT

@sm19 he had to classify and describe the sediments for a environmental reconstruction and description, to be used in papers for a new palaeontology site.

@catfluff I kid you not, sarcasm use and political affiliation. I looked to see if those on the political spectrum used it differently depending where they were on it. Spoiler alert - I found nothing since my sample size was too small. His paper sounds neat!! :D

Sounds interesting! My sample size was too small as well, all my results were not significant. Damn small samples! He didn't end up publishing, his supervisor made him sign all the rights off.

As if the college student herself isn't extremely poor and needs money.

im not sure how it would work out because of email protection laws and such (also the fact its in germany, idk german law just US) but seeing with the fact that this is the thief using your email (considered hacking the email no matter how he got the login information for further charges on top of possibly grand theft) im pretty sure the protections of data related to the email would not protect him as he does not own the data, its still your account and till your private email, and google could be forced to reveal location data for the email being sent to their server as they most likely still have it somewhere for their marketing data collecting and such. If he had used his own email to apologize it would be protected under SCA and all data regarding the email on his end would be protected.

It may have been left on login, I know a lot of people who leave everything logged in, open their browser and voila.

still considered hacking a personal email, he has no legal right to access it no matter how he accesses it
