How can you be sure? Where is the scientific data that backs this hypothesis?

Sometimes when I'm sitting in class I look around and think of this, then picture everyone taking a shit. (Also sometimes I'm like "wow they've allthrown up / had sex / a first kiss / a temper tantrum / ... ")
