It is SAD that it has BECOME NECESSARY. That family shouldn't have to plaster to the whole world on their not only front yard but garage as well their kid's problems just so cops would stop being called to their house. That is fucking ridiculous. It is obvious they are giving him the best care they can.

Sounds like they have asshole neighbors if they know the guy is severely autistic but continue calling the cops? Or if the guy is really creating that significant of a problem that its legitimately making the lives of the community so difficult that they feel they have to call the police and maybe that family needs extra help that they're not able to get. Either scenario is terrible.

However they got to the point where they feel they need to notify the police that this person is autistic and will not respond as you would expect in an encounter, there's better ways to do it than with a sign. That only serves to antagonize people. In most communities if you reached out to the local police department, like your community officer, they would be glad to come by and establish a relationship with you. It would be no different than a citizen who had a medical condition or some type of information they would need emergency responders to know about if coming to that address. A message could be placed in the system for when they ever need to call police, fire, or EMS.

That sounds like a situation that will come to a head and there won't be a solution anybody likes.
