No. Actions do speak louder than words. Even if he just does it for publicity, he is actively making them feel important. As long as he doesn’t slip, then it’s perceptually the same as if he did believe in this message. I personally think he believes in it.
I grew up in a home where my Mom and grandmother worked at jobs on their feet all day while my Day had a job at a desk all day.
I grew up thinking and feeling that all workers from top to bottom should be respected. I used to say hi to lunch woman and janitors.
One day it helped.
I had gotten a ring from my grandmother. At lunch I placed it on my tray and forgot about it. When I remembered they already got rid of the trash. The Janitor I always say hi to I asked him if you see a ring (I described it) please let me k own I think I threw it away.
Next day he came up to me and my friends at our table and said is this yours? I jumped up and gave him a big hug and said thank you over and over again. I almost cried.
Later a lunch lady told him she saw him dig threw alot of bags of trash to find it.
From than on I made sure to go out of my way to be kind to workers.
