Actually it doesn't say that because Adam and eve's had 6+ kids. I say 6+ because I k ow they had more but these are the ones I know.
Cain Male
Aclima Female (twin of Cain)
Able Male
Awan Female (twin of Able)
Seth Male
Azura Female
Seth and Azura were together
Cain and Awan were together
Able and Aclima were supposed to be together but surprise surprise Cain didn't approve so Able was paired with Azura but after Able's death Seth was paired with Azura
(Side note it is said that Aclima was the prettiest of all Adam and Eve's daughters.)
But you know how the Bible goes only time women are mentioned is due to their extreme emotions. Or just a name who married someone.
Look ummm... I admit I am 100 percent sure I am not smart enough to explain this but it wasn't technically incest seeing as their parents are made from dirt and the other parents rib.
What about Deborah who lead the nation of Israel because there wasn't a single man who was "man" enough to lead? Or Samuel's mom Hannah who is noted for her extreme devotion and ceaseless prayer. There is also the book of Ruth and Esther which are the stories of women.
I will suggest an amendment, they aren't included in MODERN or popular theology because the Church is notoriously prejudiced against women. Example: Mary Magdalene being turned into a prostitute despite their being no historical evidence or suggestion of any such thing. Or that, at least in Catholic doctrine, Mary (the Mother) remained a virgin forever, despite being married and only having a single child (there are multiple levels of insulting in this aspect of the belief), just because they are so horrified at the concept of sex they couldn't consider her saintly if she dared to actually have sex.
I will also mention, we know those women's names because they either accomplished huge feats or were involved in larger narratives. Meanwhile we know the names and lineages going back 20 generations for every random merchant Abraham passed (admittedly a slight exaggeration), yet not the name of "the woman at the well".
I was trying to explain in short that the majority of the female stories are they doing things above what a normal woman was expected to do and only than is their name mentioned. Either good or bad. Other than that you only hear that they married someone.
You don't hear how many daughters someone had or their names. There is mention of the woman's name when someone wants to marry them than it is SO an So married So and SO rarely her family's name or anything.
When woman are named it is due to them doing either extremely good or extremely bad. Like the Ester or Mary or Ruth or Salome or Cozbi or Hogla or even Eve.
It never mentions stuff about eve like she was the harvester she invented agriculture and maps and so many great things. Which by they way I think is why God liked Abel's sacrifice more. Abel gave an animal while Cain gave food he grew. Because Adam was in charge of live stock.
I think it also bares mentioning that Hebrew/Jewish bloodlines are tracked through the maternal line more than the paternal (which is why both Joseph AND Mary's lineage is documented for Jesus). But I believe that is more from practicality, the old "mama's baby, daddy's maybe" mentality
I'm the SAME way. Due to my neurological issues I have to rely on spellcheck and still focus stupid hard to make sure I didn't screw up. Fun fact: I had to back track about 10 times just in that sentence. I just can't do with letting typos ect go either, unless In having an especially bad spell
God preferred Abel's sacrifice because of the heart behind on it. Cain gave a sacrifice begrudgingly Abel gave a sacrifice wholeheartedly. Also it was Jewish culture at the time to presume women as untrustworthy.
Age of many ancient humans was greater 600-700. In bible. Thus incest decreased it to modern "100". How Christians explain it. Second... From science sight. Incest leads to bad aftermath rarely. For example, whole European history of upper-class.
It depends on the closeness of the relationship and the frequency of the occurrences of inbreeding, the more closely the parents are related the smaller the genetic "pool" and the higher percentage of a chance for any potential genetic disorder/abnormalities that may be harbored in their genes to surface. It's like a lottery drawing, the more diverse the selection exponentially increases potential combinations of genes and thus decreases the likelihood that both parties carry markers for the same defects.
The real harm according to scientists is less physical and more sociological, because it creates isolated pockets of family communities cut off from the rest of society and can damage the physiological development of all members of the group.
It's honestly been several years since I was reading up on it and right now, because of the huge influx of articles ect related to the abortion issues I'm having trouble finding the ones that are relevant because most right now are about abuse and unconsenting rather than the consensual relationships, which obviously have drastically different psychological profiles ect.
I will also add, Genesis also refers to beings created when "the sons of God" came to the "daughters of man" and fathered children, the Nephilim. It also doesn't specifically exclude the possibility God created mates for the first generation.
On the other hand, this is the same book which mentioned the potential rape of a VERY drunk father by his son.
Also, its worth mentioning that incest wasn't officially outlawed until Leviticus.
