It's called Kukkur Tihar. Kukkur as in dog and Tihar is a festival. We also have a day for the crows Kaag Tihar a day before, for all the crows and finally Gai Tihar which is for cows. It is also celebrated in Sikkim, a state of India together with Nepal and Darjeeling.
We make garlands for as you can see in the pictures by sewing together marigolds, the seasonal flower, put 'tilak' on their foreheads and make them good food. It's like a tiny party for them. (: Happy to share.
