I mean when dlc’s were called expansions usually the base game was damn good. Eg Half-life, Diablo2 and 3 saying all dlc is content cut off from the original game is unfair some dlc’s are well worth the money.

another example thats a bit more recent is the various Civ 6 expansions. They completely change how the game works (basically a totally new game at that point) as did the big expansions for civ 5.

I knew I should have waited for the gold edition..... I'm going to run the base game and see how it fairs (I haven't tried yet on my new laptop, as a lot of the base game is sort of broken), if it runs fine, there goes $70.
