I hope this isn't racist but I think Asian people in general simply look more similar to their opposite sex counterparts—males and females seem to have rather similar bone structures, in the face and even in the rest of the body. So when a person is transitioning from one gender to another, the difference is not all that stark. With Europeans, males and females tend to look much more different, with completely different facial structures and body types. So when they transition, it is often harder to pass. Just my two cents.
