It's a common misconception that dad's say no to dogs because they don't want them, bit instead it's that they know they'll usually spoil them instead.

As guest says- many times parents don’t say no to animals because they don’t want them- even those that seem like they really don’t. Many times it’s because they know that if it is in the home they will fall in love with it and don’t want to. Sometimes it’s because they’ve experienced loving and losing an animal and don’t want to feel that again. Sometimes it’s practical- they know they can’t help love and keep the animal but are also aware and not excited about the work and care and expense, or in some cases the messes, smells, etc. that come with a furry friend. Lots of tiles parents say no to things their own hearts would say yes to on principal or impulse- but because as parents they must balance practicality and their hearts in trying to raise and care for their family.

Dads say they don't want dogs because they know they'll get super attached.
