I grew up in the house all the kids called 2nd home. It is by far the best thing to know that you are being raised in such a loving caring family that even your friends are welcome.
My family loved being the house everyone hangs out at.
Many times I would see my brothers friends calling my Mom and Dad not by thier names but as Mom and Dad. My grandmother who we called Mema was called Mema even by those same kids. There was even times I came to find them raiding our fridge, hanging out in my parents bedroom (in my family my parents bedroom was the 2nd living room lol),
one guy even used to take showers at our house. He claimed his house had only a bathtub. We even had a few friends move in with us. One was kicked out by his family while he was still in high school.
I always wanted to be the parent of a house like that. But kids dont hang out like they used to lol.
-.- My kid is failing me only in this way. Lol
I don't understand, naps aren't normally allowed on the couch? Does it really make a difference if they're sitting very still or sleeping? Is the couch just for show and they were supposed to be on the floor? I'm so confused...
Some parents wouldn't like that they are taking up the whole couch. It is hard to sit next to someone sleeping on a couch. They either take up most the couch or make you feel like you have to be quiet. Plus she says some those kids are not hers. Some people tell their kids dont be brinng all your friends here we are not a hotel.
But the kids aren't the focus of contention, the couch is ("riding my furniture down", "couch is materialistic it can be replaced"). An exception is made because they're young adults that are safe, but WHAT are they doing exactly to normally cause fussing and cussing and bringing up REPLACING the couch!? Are they not allowed on furniture? Not even if one if them is her(?) own child? I'm a non-millennial (older) adult and have never heard of getting rid of furniture because some kids fell asleep on it. I'm still so confused...
You say you are non millennial but you never heard of older parents hate when you sit on their furniture other than sitting straight up, feet planted on the floor.
They hate when kids sit on their furniture because in a older parents eye kids break furniture.
You never seen a house where the furniture was covered in plastic? Or where there was certain furniture that was not for sitting. I grew up with a family down the block from us. The kids LOVED coming to our house because there was no such thing as such furniture. But in their house there was a dining room and a living room filled with furniture never to be used. Only for looks.
I guess I can see that. I have no kids, but I grew up in a large mexican household (siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins under one roof), just like all the houses in my neighborhood. Having furniture that wasn't usable was unheard of. What a strange luxury.
