Why? People who would declaw their pet, theoretically weren’t planning on letting them outside. So how are they getting to these birds? The feral cat population would be the same and they aren’t running around scratching the eyes out of pet dogs. As for the ferals getting to the birds. It’s sad but it happens. Cats are dicks.

@rachee it’s animal abuse. Let cats have their toes. It won’t affect other animals. and if those cats are put outside, how would they defend themselves without claws?
Or climb trees to flee?
In general that's some bullshit statement. In Germany, declawing is illegal and most people haven't even heard of it. Many of our cats walk around outside and I've never in my life seen one eyed dogs and cats here.
go to a vets office and tell him cats don't do eye damage he will get a good laugh. not sure what else you are trying to dispute that cats with claws can't defend themselves better than cats with out? or that cats with claws can't catch birds better then cats with out claws?
Oh I don't know. Cats without claws can't defend themselves, cant climb trees. Also you're not only removing the claw, but a whole knuckle. This is a very painful procedure which often results in hyper sensitive paws. Some cats even start peeing on the floor because the litter is too hurtful for them to step on. Your argument is bs. Cats defend themselves, dogs defend themselves, birds defend themselves. It's nature, they're animals, provoke a cat and you'll have to face the consequences. Don't fucking surgically remove parts of their feet what the fuck.
Also you literally said there will be a lot of one-eyed cats and dogs. Which simply is not the case.
like i said ask a vet about the eye thing but lets break this down. Because what i said was complete bull shit so educate me. so you don't think that the bird population is going to take a hit with more cats with claws how is this so?
Are you just gonna ignore every other argument? You clearly exaggerated with your one-eyed statement. And as stated before, many of the declawed cats are indoor cats. The percentage of cats that are outside cats and were declawed is not that big that it would have a huge impact on bird population. And as @famousone said, it's nature. It's normal for animals to have predators. Also, wouldn't every other country that bans declawing, have problems regarding their bird population? They don't, so yeah, I'll call bullshit on ya.
Also of course a vet sees a lot of injuries by cat claws. But guess what? You will find so so many kids in children's hospitals that broke a bone or got injured otherwise by falling from a tree. That doesn't mean we should cut down all trees and that they are a hazard in general. It's a hospital. It's were those cases accumulate. It just looks a lot. Same goes for the vet.
i never said it didn't hurt the animal or impact it so yes i'm avoiding the argument you made up in your head i said there were going to be more eye injuries you said that was bull shit yet now you say sure a vet sees eye injuries i said its going to affect the bird population you said bull shit but now you say its just nature birds have predators. so let's break down my statement cats with claws will do more eye damage than cats without claws do you dispute this? cats with claws will hurt the bird population worse than cats with out do you dispute that statement?
The numbers are so insignificant that they shouldn't affect the decision of banning cat declawing.
And still I don't think there's a huge number of eye injuries caused by cats. I only said it might be that the vet sees a lot. That's not the same to me. I've been handling cats since I was four, we've had 6 cats in our family and you can believe me that I will greet each and every cat I see on the street. They only scratch if they feel threatened or you invade their space. Just like many dogs will bite you in that situation. But not once, in my whole life, did a cat aim for my eyes. I also don't know one single person or dog this has ever happened to. And I'll say it again. We don't have problems regarding our bird population. So still. Your arguments are bullshit.
We neither have one eyed cats and dogs running about, nor a problem with our bird population.
so now you say The numbers are so insignificant meaning that birds are going to take a hit but the numbers say it will be a small hit. well if you say so i mean you got the numbers so you would know. but either way i said they would take a hit you agree they will take a hit weather its 1 bird or 1 million its a hit. now about the eye damage cats with claws means more eye damage cases. you can dispute that if you want but its a fact ask any vet and they will tell you cats blind other animals and other cats. either way i've had enough. is declawing cats cruel that's debatable. want to ban it fine but there should be a lesh law then at the least . there are enough endangered species on this planet already we don't need more effective predators helping the decline.
Sorry I can't help but laugh about it. There is no law stating you HAVE TO declaw your cat, so there's already a huge bunch of clawed cats running around where you live. Do you want all of them on a leash? Lol.
And sure, CATS are the biggest threat to endangered species hahaha. Again. THEY DO NOT POSE A THREAT TO ENDANGERED WILDLIFE IN ANY COUNTRY THAT BANS DECLAWING.

Also it’s not really debatable whether or not it’s abuse, it just is. Cats need to defend themselves and escape harm. News flash: cats have always had claws and no eco system or species has been hurt beyond repair by them. Please don’t declaw your cat. Your vet will tell you it’s cruel, anyone with common sense will tell you it’s cruel, just let the poor things have their body parts

Stripping it's means is cruel and wrong.
