Maybe it’s the opposite. Crusty angry person who hates society and only leaves their solitude to commit acts of spite or terror? To anyone who’s been on the Internet THAT seems pretty relatable. So maybe the way to show someone as un relatable and crazy by modern standards is that they buy groceries in person instead of on amazon? Like “wow. He says he hates everyone but he still goes out in public. It’s like he WANTS to get pissed off....” Like people who post on social media and meme sites with polarizing opinions and then jump in to the inevitable shit show. I contend by modern standards a grinch who stays isolated is probably going to be a lot more relaxed than one that spends time around people. Unless he just watches News alone all day- then a modern grinch is just an SJW or far right troll looking for reasons to get upset. So it works.
