Bosses having multiple stages/forms isn't really new, but it is quite common, expect it, and prepare accordingly

I was playing Control earlier and there's a side boss that took me 45 minutes to beat. I died... so many times.

There’s a side boss in Final Fantasy 12 called Yiazmat. He has 50 million hp and can 1 hit KO you if you’re not careful. Took me 2 hours to beat him. My eye still twitches when I think of him
