I'm an adult, cell phones weren't common when I was a kid, so maybe I'm on the wrong side, but is it really that big of a problem to text your parents back?
It's emotionally exhausting and you can't just send a :heh: face.
Or maybe @xboxgorgo18, they were emotionally abused and really really not in the mood to fight another round and defend why they exist or make certain (quite logical and normal) choices like not being a racist.
Yeah @catfluff, we can find excuses for a number of kids who don't text back but we're talking about the common situation. Yes, some kids are abused or mistreated or have certain situations, but the vast majority of kids are more than capable of giving their parents some kind of basic response. There are a number of people that get into such bad car wrecks that their too freaked out to ever drive again, but the vast majority of Americans are more than capable of driving a car, this is just a broad discussion
I'm not saying I've got the only right opinion in the world, I just think most kids should be able to respond to their parents, especially when those parents are the ones paying for the phone
