Extremely good work. People talk about automation but the vast majority of automated vehicles will still have a commercial driver behind the wheel for liability and security purposes.
There are a lot of long-haul drivers that earn more annually than software engineers. Depending on what additional certifications you have, (HAZ, high value, etc.) you can easily make make upwards of 120k-150k annually.
There is more to being a truck driver than driving. Also truck drivers get good pay but the health benefits suck.
