Partially true. The “Marble Fox” is primarily a human bred mutation of a red fox. There is no such thing as a domesticated fox. Foxes mark territory- even when spayed. They pee everywhere. And it smells. Like a skunk. They are destructive in captivity. They have wild instincts and do not do well indoors. Almost 80% of pet foxes end up given up within the first 5 months. They are often aggressive with other animals and have strong prey drives towards things they could eat.. including small humans.

Only a USDA licensed facility may legally sell foxes, which aren’t legal in all states, and if you buy a fox you can’t sell it unless you are a USDA wildlife facility. Why? Because otherwise it’s a federal crime- wildlife trafficking. It’s in the name. They are wildlife. They may be raised in captivity or kept as pets but are not domestic. There’s also no rabies vaccine for foxes. Most facilities and people who serve pets require this- it compromises your safety- and if your fox ever bites they’ll cut off its head to test it for rabies. So beautiful and wonderful animals- not a pet for everyone. Not domestic.
