I know he's better known for his Sci Fi pieces, but Orson Scott Card has a lot of really wonderful fantasy books and series. His magic systems are some of my favorites

Dennis L. McKiernan, Gordon R Dickson, R. A. Salvatore, Christopher Rowley, David Weber, Brian Jacques are all really good too. None of the bottom 4 even make my top 20 list and I really dislike George R. R. Martin.

Brian Jacques. As good as his storytelling was, I think his ability to weave a great riddle will always be my favorite thing about his writing.
