My mom made me and my sibling a lamb cake like this one but more detailed, and looked like it was laying like an actually lamb when we turned one. The head always fell off so she would give the baby the head.
I don't know about other parts of the world but where my Dad comes from it's customary to bake a laying lamb cake for Easter. The position is exactly similar so I think this was the intended use of this mold.
Oh like Alsace-Lorraine? That'd make sense, both Czechia and Eastern parts of France are influenced by German culture and I think the lamb cake might have originated there.
