Fun fact: Gardevoir is not in the Human-Like egg group. It belongs to the same one as Muk - the Amorphous egg group.

It's partly based on the the mostly plausible theory that people are pokemon. However diverged from 'true pokemon' through evolution (Darwin's theories). And becuae all pokemon lay eggs, it makes sense that people would lay eggs too.
