There's a way to have reasonable gun control without disarming the working class. Taking guns away from suicidal people (we don't want it to be easier for them to hurt themselves), people with a history of violent crime, and rigorous gun safety education (to prevent accidental deaths) are what is needed.

Most conservatives agree with this, but the media chooses to highlight Beto saying "We're gonna take your AR-15s".
mentally ill people are already screened out. People with history of violent crime are already screened out. concealed carry licenses already require educating as do hunting licenses. You are asking for what already exists
that follows the same logic as "if youve got nothing to hide..."
as ive said basically every time any of this come up.
about 1/3rd of americans legally own a gun. thats about 100 million people. there are around 10k gun related homicides a year. about 70% of those are done with handguns.
the vast majority of that 10k is done with illegally owned guns.
if we assume that fact is wrong and say every single gun homicide is done by a different american that legally owns a gun thats still only 0.0001% of gun owning americans committing homicide with their gun, which i will remind you is hella incorrect as the vast majority of gun homicides are done with illegally owned guns.

saying there should be no objection to fixing an issue that doesnt exist because it doesnt exist is horribly illogical.
You stated that background checks exist. I pointed out that they are not equally applied to all gun sales. There are methods available to do checks on private sales. Any objection to just requiring it for all sales the same way it is required for licensed dealers?
until the government allows access to the background check system without having to be an FFL thats not going to happen and would be stupid as it would require the person selling to gun to pay a private company to do the background check.
