well of course they escaped, they realized that the alcohol was actually making them more susceptible to the cold because the warm feeling is fake so they had to escape and generate body heat to survive

Over the short term it can actually save you, as it can prevent your blood from freezing.

thats a myth. There isnt any actual heat. It FEELS like heat because your blood vessel and capillaries get wider making it so more blood is in any give spot. The amount that would be required to change the blood's freezing temperate to any helpful level would kill you and thats before even knowing that youll die of hypothermia long before you have to worry about frozen blood.

You're right on the blood thing, but even a small amount would decrease viscosity and would allow more continuous flow through the brain, making it harder to shut the brain down.. plus trick your brain.
