Well they were, weren't they? Isn't the Archaeopteryx half bird-half reptile?

No. It's way more complicated than that, and even if you simplify it, Archaeopteryx is far closer to half-bird, half-dinosaur... or a proto-bird. Dinosaurs were warm-blooded, surviving reptiles are cold-blooded, but mammals also split off from reptiles... from "mammal-like reptiles".

Yeah sorry my bad, I was trying to put it extremely simple because of the nature of the post, but I might've gone a little too far. I was making a stupid remark even though I know exactly what the Archaeopteryx is, should've worded it better sorry! (I think I was just tired and didn't bother trying to properly translate to English what I was thinking)
