Well that’s a relief. I think that’s a relief. Is that a relief?

Well- for the 400th time- not all trans women have penises. Not all trans men do either. But regardless- make and female genitalia form from the same basic package. A clitoris is basically a time penis- and some women have large clits. Labia are empty ball sacks. If you give oral to a woman- would you be willing to lick an adults scrotum if his balls never dropped or were removed?

How we want to frame this makes a big deal. “Homosexual” inherently means: with the same sex. How do we want to define that? Chromosomes? If so- those don’t change- but then again... being a “genetic male/female” isn’t as simple as XX or XY. there are other combos and over 46 major indicators of genetic sex. Sleeping with some men or women could be argued to be more or less “queer” than others even if it’s “heterosexual” in theory.

But if we are viewing genetic sex- we could say it is homosexual- but not that YOU are homosexual. Gender and sexuality aren’t so simple. See- what attracts you to your preferred sex? You can’t see or taste or sense chromosomes in any meaningful way. So we are taking about traits. A body shape, breasts, pecs, butt, hip/shoulder/waist ratio, size and dimensions, facial features, hair, perhaps pheromones. So if a genetic male possesses the same features you find attractive in a “woman,” and is essentially indistinguishable from a woman (or replace woman with man as needed)- your sexuality is not homosexual- it is heterosexual because what attracts you to them isn’t that they are the same sex, or features of the same sex. Your attraction is to those features which are not the same sex.

But this nuance and an undercurrent of homophobia is partially at the core of transphobia and discomfort or opposition to transsexuals. When we start to examine concepts like sexuality vs gender vs genetics, anatomy, what makes what and who what.... we have to face certain truths about ourselves. One of those truths is that there is no such thing as “100% heterosexual or homosexual.” One of those truths is that binary gender and binary sexuality and even binary sexes aren’t accurate.

For many this calls into question their world views and self identity. What of religion? The only support for the idea of homosexuality as a sin comes from passages speaking about men being with men explicitly- but not of women. One passage says women acting sexually “against nature...” which... doesn’t pencil out since females of many species including human have sex with other females in nature and to their own natures. But mum is the scripture on the androgynous or hermaphroditism or intersex people. It doesn’t cover what happen when a phenotypic male presents female genitals or vice versa.

Equally mum is a binary gender and sex system- worse yet when you combine the two. How do we identify that phenotypic female born with male organs? If we say she is biologically female- she still has a penis. If we say her gender is female- she still has a penis. If we say she is simply “a woman-“ she is still a woman with a penis. Nothing there advertises what is between her legs does it?

Tl:dr- the obsession with labels flies against known human psychology and biology. You’ll not find a specimen of “perfect” physical, genetic, or social gender or sex with which to measure against. All people will be somewhere on a spectrum. Being “homosexual” means being attracted to the same sex. You cannot tell with complete certainty biological/genetic sex without a laboratory. External genitals are a clue but not a definitive. If you are attracted to feminine traits as a man- that attraction isn’t homosexual is it? What do these words even mean?
