When I was 17 at some point I had no money left on my bank account, and only 20€ in money. I just thought "what the hell, this is screwed anyways" and gave the 20 to a woman who was pretending to be homeless (I discovered the "pretending" part only later). Found chocolate and a pack of ham (still wrapped!!) in a trash bin, then didn't eat for 2 days, then had an opportunity to get back home to my parents for the holidays and just 2 weeks later the money from my grandma's inheritance came.
I would have been screwed over without her death, which is a very weird feeling, and yet I know this is pretty mild compared to what a lot of people have lived or still live.
