Well I will answer since I actually built the systems that run private healthcare insurance so I have intimate firsthand knowledge of what a scam it is. I can’t speak to the public side here but I can assure you that private is far from above board. However, the real problem with healthcare in general stems from the doctors being able to charge whatever they want whenever they want. I don’t mean set their own prices, I mean charge three patients three different amount for the same procedure in the same day. In any other industry that’s illegal. It causes a ripple effect throughout the flow of money into system. PPOs pop up like leeches to profit off controlling the doctors pricing on behalf of the insurance companies for example.

I would like to amend the above statement to say “providers” instead of “doctors.” Hospitals and other facilities are just a guilty of the practice.

Go figure, we are all getting downvoted. @famousone disagrees but didnt want to respond to a troll-like attitude, I confirm, and @scatmandingo replies in a very respectful, informative way and he still gets downvoted. Tell me again how you're not a troll @jdudkiewicz?

It's funny how people counter M4A by saying that we should have the choice of which insurance plan to get when, in reality, they are all basically the same. I can get the Cigna Onyx Blue Plan for $300 a month with a 5K deductible from my employer, or the Cigna Black Diamond plan for $200 a month with a 7K deductible from my employer. They are all also purposefully vague and confusing so as to limit the customers understanding.
