I think this is a patient talking to their therapist. The therapist is organizing the thoughts and feelings so the patient can understand what they are dealing with. At least this is how I interpret it.
Yea, I believe that's the correct interpretation, but it's also true that some friends and family try and take the burden of being a therapist without the skills to keep it healthy and unburdening for themselves
Considering there’s nothing to depict the person as a therapist in anyway I just assumed it’s the role played by people that just listen to people who are going through overwhelming stress so as to help them sort things out and see it in a different perspective

I believe you're right, Wendy, or at least very close.
And as Kcat appropriately put it; take care of yourselves too, even a therapist needs to see a therapist every now and then
This is pretty much what I do for my husband. He suffers from social and stress anxiety, sleep anxiety and hypochondria. I pretty much am his therapist and doctor. He fears hospitals as well so he won't go unless I tell him he has to go.
Every day is me walking him through an anxiety attack of a hypochondria moment. He has been banned by me from googling his symptoms because of how bad his hypochondria feeds into his anxiety.
One time he had anti-reflux so bad he got diarrhea because his body was trying to flush his system of it. He went into huge panic mode and thought he was going to pass out and die because he googled his symptoms and apparently it came up anal cancer. So he was crying said he was going to die. I told him describe all his symptoms he had BEFORE he googled and I found that it was just diarrhea due to extra stomach acid. He just need to drink ton of water and eat light food like. He was better by the end of the day.
I love him and will help him through anything.
