Well if the food gets burned in then just clean it with soap. And then reseason, it's not hard :-)

So much effort for a pan that I don’t believe improves the quality of food, but thanks for the genuine advice :D

I respect the discourse between you two. To add a bit of information- it isn’t even so much that cast iron cooks better food- although the even heating, ability to hold heat, and take high heat are all things “sensitive” cooks might appreciate. When it comes to food- the “benefits” are subjective beyond that. Cast iron cookware will add iron to food you cook in it. For many that’s not an issue- but for some, and traditionally an extra source of iron on the diet an be helpful. Cast iron allows cooking with less oil because of a seasoned case iron pans non stick nature. That can be healthier... in theory. But those aren’t really even the primary reasons for cast iron.

Before Teflon and similar- there weren’t really “non stick” pans. For many- it may not be practical to transport the lubricant for cooking to prevent such issues. On the “frontier” for example- a pan that doesn’t require water (or much) to clean and doesn’t really require much oil etc and is almost “self lubricating” has advantages. They are durable, and can easily last decades or centuries with a little care.

In the modern age- many of those benefits don’t matter much to most of us. Most of us would rather buy a set of $10 pans and replace them every few years or decade or whatever than care for something and worry about having a pan to give the kids and grandkids. Teflon is almost care free non stick, and most people don’t care that a cast iron pan works in the over or on it- they’ll just buy a $10 oven dish and a $10 stove top pan. One of the few benefits of cast iron that applies to most people in the modern age... but many do t care?

It leeches iron into your food which is theoretically not a bad thing- but Teflon type pans tend to leech chemicals linked to various harms on the body. Some people don’t care. If a person cares- there is one benefit. But yeah- by and large, most people won’t see any tangible benefit from a cast iron pan, most people won’t benefit from its pluses because yikes have changed. So not saying you should change your stance- chuck away if you don’t want to deal with cast iron. Just for the record stating some of the benefits and why cast iron CAN make sense/why it became popular.
