Spiderman's webbing is also a nonlethal way to disable criminals, which he could patent and sell to the police, thus freeing him up to superhero fulltime rather than constantly struggle with funds as well as equipping the police to safely handle both normal and super criminals

Except, eventually the police would go after him, and having studied his webbing, would be able to counteract it. Eventually criminals would get that information, having hacked, bribed, or whatever. At that point, everyone would be able to neutralize it, and then no one would be able to use it.
