1940 college admission paperwork

Seeing as they asked if only the mom had attended their school it’s easy to assume it’s a school for girls. Therefore what they’re really then asking is “are you gonna meet a guy and then ditch us to play housewife?” It was and still is a readily available idea that all women want is to take care of a family so at first opportunity they’ll leave their jobs to have that. Which is often times not true but especially in the past an employer would literally force the woman to quit or fire her once she got engaged or married.

Met a few women in college that were looking for the Mrs degree. It wasn't many but it was noticeable.
