Me as a child: breaks a plate
Me as an almost adult: breaks a rare fossil, in fact, the historical exemplary described by a XIX-th-century scientist.
Good think my dad taught me to fix my mistakes quickly and act like nothing happened.
Nice one!
Luckily I didn't have to, I had bought some superglue a few days prior and my lazy ass hadn't taken it out of my bag yet. I applied the glue, held the pieces together and just then a researcher entered the lab. I put my elbow on the tube of glue and kept pushing the parts against one another for 10s, acting natural and casually talking with the guy until he said he had something to check on the fossil. It has dried already. He didn't see anything.
(Velpon was the brand that saved my life, extra strong, extra quick, also unsurprisingly burns your eyes and throat if you make the mistake of bringin it close to your face. Would recommend for emergencies, not that much for your health.)
Oh I'm 100% serious. That's the thing with my bad luck and mistakes: it doesn't happen a lot but when it does I'm in for a nice spin.
I don't have pics for obvious reasons but if you ever meet the spine of Asteracanthus ornatissimus described by Louis Agassiz...
(just don't tell my former teachers)
Not as far as I know. I mean I know for sure they didn't realize back then, maybe they've noticed it by now but can't link it back to me. They're wheregers and don't go here so I'm still safe telling this story here^^
Edit: hey funny, nein site-ers automatically changes to wheregers when I post the comment.
