There's a quote about the from Barbara Broccoli, producer and custodian of the franchise, is clear about it. “Bond is male," she has said. “And that’s fine. We don’t have to turn male characters into women. Let’s just create more female characters and make the story fit those female characters." Exactly. Especially since women are doing better at the box office than men. Leave that beloved relic alone. Find your own stuff to shake, stir, whatever.
also wasn't there this whole thing that 007 is just the agent code name and literally anyone could be agent 007 but james bond will always be james bond?
Turning male characters into female characters is nothing short of lazy script writing 9/10, come from what I can only assume are people so inept at creating their own characters they have no choice but to steal someone elses' and feed off their success.
.
I don't even particularly care about the James bond franchise but I see absolutely zero reason to change him to a woman.

They don't even have to use the 007 code if they want to make a female character set in that universe. They could go REALLY far out on a limb and make a 008. Or 009. Or even step on stranger things' toes and go for eleven if they're feeling particularly confrontational. I guess that must be too creative for them, though
