Actually when I was growing up a man was arrested for handing out candy with alcohol in it. So yeah. Lol
No really there was a man who handed out chocolate candies with alcohol in the center. He claimed that he was tired of hearing the kids bang on his door after he ran out of candy so he gave his roommates candy to them and he didn't know it was laced with alcohol. But they proved he bought them himself purposely to give out.
Maybe it won’t be the drugs but there are reports of people putting dangerous objects in candies. Just check your candy before you eat it. It can’t be that hard
You are HIGHLY statistically unlikely to get candy laced with anything. It does happen, it has happened: and if people cared about things being statistically unlikely we wouldn’t spend so much time talking about school shootings. If it isn’t booze, weed, nicotine, household cleaner etc- I mean- licking ice cream in stores was briefly a thing, and the reason aspirin etc. have those foil seals is because some guy just decided to go around poisoning bottles. People can be sick, people can go to great efforts just to hurt others- from spending the time to learn to fly a plane just to crash it, to dropping cyanide in random Tylenol bottles as revenge against society. Ted Kazinsky went to great lengths and extremes and hurt people he’d never met over some perceived grudge and etc. and accidents happen. I’ve known people who have mixed up their edibles etc. before and didn’t MEAN to but accidentally mixed up goods.
So just check the freaking candy. If it’s opened or looks open- even if there’s no glass or poison or razors or needles etc. in it- how do you know what someone did even without malice? There are people out there who don’t wash their hands, who think it’s ok to deworm the dog or pop their spouses pimples or be elbow deep in toluene or bleach and then touch things.
Don’t take unwrapped foods and or home made goods unless you KNOW the person really well. Throw out candy that looks opened or has damaged packaging, etc. it’s a $.02 cent piece of candy, it’s maybe 20 or so minutes of your life. Your kids or you probably will never get a weed gummy or a Reese’s laced with THC or a candle apple full of razor shards. But for 20 minutes a year and some wasted candy why would you take the chance? Your call. Are you someone who buys the “loose” jerky from a gas station? That’s strong energy. Do you.
