Lol. That’s what I came here to say- except less metric. But agreed. Unless she is a tiny tiny little person. 8” (20cm) is closer to the width of a piece of printer paper.
Although it does remind me of an old sexist joke:
“Why can’t women measure?”
“Because they’ve been told that this:” *hold up fingers about 7.5cm or 3 inches apart* “ is 6” (or 15cm)” it’s making fun of men- but the premise women are poor at measuring comes primarily at the expense of women from the traditional lack of women in fields of STEM. So I don’t approve the sexism inherent to the joke but keeping that it is based on untrue stereotypes which may have had some broader truth in a previous time period- I find it funny. Especially in apt cases like this where this young woman is being implied to say that something is almost twice the length being described. I mean know offense to anyone anddo not think women are poorer at measurements- although I do think many men are unaware or misrepresent their “prowess” in physical relations.
Thank you. I have a few- they do well. Better without the explanation obviously- but I don’t need to explain and contextualize them in less public settings since there is an assumed relationship between teller and audience and you can read the room and more directly deal with issues people may have. Not for mixed company generally- so I don’t usually tell them here.
