welp, that limits a lot of design possibly limiting every phone to being compatible with the same baseline spec charger. if they dont have to be within the same electric output numbers I cant wait for all the people complaining about having their phones break from plugging it into a charger thats too powerful for it because they thought it having the same "head" meant it was 100% identical in functionality.

Any halfway decent USB-C charger communications with the device before determining how much power to send through. So I can plug my Google Pixel (accepts up to 18W) into a MacBook charger (can provide up to 85W) and it'll charge my phone just fine.
