Is it a coincidence? Probably not. I mean, if they were to look up at night they'd have seen the same stars we see now, and Orion's belt are some of the most visible. Most likely just a case of great minds thinking alike.

And that type of pyramid was probably the easiest to construct while also being the sturdiest. I mean just look at other historical sites that are much younger but already in shambles
