they were stolen, but what about all the stuff in their museums?

This is actually a hot debate in the museum field, even more so with sacred artifarcts as it's highly disrespectful to other cultures to show to everyone a piece of their religion that only one person in the tribe should see for it to keep its powers (some argue that it's important to share knowledge. While I agree, a reproduction would do the trick and not disclose the secrets of other people). Some have given back some of what they had stolen though! For instance Nantes (France) gave back a maori head to New Zealand. It's a tremendously slow process though because of economic considerations and people not liking to lose what they consider theirs ("They couldn't take care of their heritage! Without us it would have been destroyed anyways"). The debate is endless!

Kind of a microcosm of human nature/history itself, ain't it?
