See the paradox of tolerance, as ie. stipiulated by Karl Popper. "Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance" and that does not only include what @famousone rightfully added. It also takes into account that the balance of a society can become very unstable once a party or group, has learned to abuse freedom of speech and is constantly pushing the limits of what's tolerable. The growing cancellation culture on the left side is a very visible attempt to limit freedom of speech, the agenda on the right side however, will also always result in a cancellation of free speech, even when they advocate for it. Good examples are Hungary and Poland, where right nationalist parties always dwelled on free speech until they got into power.
