As my dad told me once: "People will NEVER notice all the good you do, you could be doing it perfectly and people will assume it's your normal. You mess up once? They'll keep that on you for a good long while".(paraphrased cuz it's been a while love ya dad)
If you’re doing good in the hopes of others noticing/praising, you’ll NEVER be fulfilled and appreciated to the degree you desire, and your feelings will continually be hinged on factors that are not within your control. Work on finding satisfaction from within, only then are you in control of your emotions. We are all responsible for our own mental health (which we absolutely should never sacrifice).
Very true. If you go above and beyond and are more capable than others, unless you ask for a raise, you will only ever get more work and more responsibilities.
Don't come to work sick, especially now but just don't, in general. You're just gonna feel like crap and nobody's gonna appreciate it. Once I went to work with a strep throat and a fever because none of my colleagues were willing to fill in for me, even though I knew for a fact one of them was free that day (we're part timers and we have to know each other's schedules to coordinate our shifts). I should've told the HR that but instead I took some pills and went to work. I won't make that mistake again.
