This was here before and I said it then as well we have no idea why he did that for her. What if she was having health problems or she was suffering from leg cramps or having severe stomach problems or maybe he was suffering from leg problems and had to stand up maybe he’s used to standing and sitting was bothering him we don’t know the full story.
All we know is he stood up an allowed his wife to lay down. And I think that if it bothered him so much to stand there for so long he would of woke his wife up.
Well said. Selflessness doesn’t require one person to be “selfish.” By definition selflessness is putting the needs of another above your own. Giving what you can give without discomfort is still good- but it isn’t selfless as it requires no sacrifice. When one TAKES without concern for another’s needs or feelings that is selfish. When one is given a gift by another’s choosing- it is not selfish to accept said gift inherently. There is context and nuance- but in general.... a relationship where no one ever gives or no one ever takes isn’t really a relationship- it’s just two people existing.
