Algebra is a good subject to teach because it introduces the concepts of variables and algorithms. The higher level math classes need to go. The US adopted Trig and Calc back in the 50s because of the Cold War; we wanted to produce more aeronautical engineers for the Space Race. The classes aren’t useful and should be replaced with something with more daily application.

While I agree that there should be more lesson options available for things such as learning how to handle personal finances efficiently, those shouldn't outright replace calculus/trig classes. Calculus still has its place for students who want to reach that level of math for their career choice. Education should not be limited to the level of knowledge that the "average" person needs.

It’s shouldn’t be limited to that, no, but neither should those classes be mandatory.

I'm a computer science major, I'm biased, but I honest to goodness believe an introductory coding class/networking class is 10x as useful as Chem 2 or Calculus.
