I took my six year old to an amusement park after telling him we were going to a store to buy a new mattress. When we arrived and he realized where we were he burst out in tears. You need to be careful with kids at that age. Confusion and surprise can cause them stress.

When I was 5, my dad told me we were going to grandma and grandpa's house. He then took me to Princeton, which was nearby their place. He thought I would be excited because we were going to spend the day there, but my mom is the only one who actually enjoys going to Princeton. I was so upset because I was looking forward to going to grandma's house all week. I wouldn't talk to him for days.
