Well... yes and no. It’s inherent to our perception- we see and experience the world from a singular view- ours. Our own experience is the only reference we have for existence. Even the most empathetic and compassionate person is incapable of truly “knowing” the world from beyond what they can see or relate to. We are capable- and often do study the relationships between things that aren’t directly relating to ourselves- much of science does this- but is is a practical matter that as humans we tend to view those relationships and intentionally or not- identify and isolate ways we can self benefit from what we learn. To be otherwise would require some sort of hive mind or collective.
Even in most colonies such as insects, where the larger body seems dedicated to the greater good- we can’t much say what an insect thinks or feels- but in some ant colonies- there can be more than one queen. In these colonies, experiments show that some queens will reduce the work they do to both allow them more benefit and less work- but also to prevent the colony from over growing their control. Likewise, worker ants in these colonies will attack and kill a queen who isn’t producing enough workers. So even the “ant colony” the model of communal thinking isn’t so purely altruistic. In fact- we can’t say that they even see beyond themselves- that they don’t just follow reactions based on what their “feelings” motivate them to- reward triggering. Beyond rare example- most organisms on earth as we know things are limited in this way just as we are. There isn’t anything I’m serous about it anymore than Fire is monstrous- certain things are inherent to the reality of things.
“People only understand from their level of perception” is perhaps one of the more egotistical things I’ve heard. I wasn’t so aware that perception had levels as much as it did angles. But most people’s perceptions are not going to be 100% aligned to yours 100% of the time. Arguably none. Peoples perceptions- or “levels of perception” aren’t reasons to not explain yourself. If anything- explaining ourselves to others gives all involved an opportunity to see these others angles they may have missed. Moreover- closing yourself to the questions and perceptions of others- is not only arrogant in its assumption that you have the most true and complete picture of reality- it assumes that others either can’t understand you, or that whatever their perceptions are aren’t relevant. It itself still and exceptionally self centered view of the world.
Edit: also many people I have never heard of: Akash Manna, Pankhuri, Deepika Rao, ...
