Waht do you expect?

Some friends will split the bill as to who had what, best friends will swap who pays when thus ensuring that there will be more meet-ups

My general is rule is, don't go out unless you're willing and able to pay the entire bill. Don't be petty, and if the other party is just looking for a free meal and you expect more, just take the L and move on.

Or maybe we could just let people decide who pays on their own.
If they don’t want to pay the full amount, don’t call them rude or ill mannered. It’s their money and they decide what to do with it.
Expecting to mooch off of someone is the real rude business
