I have a ton of good experiences but I want to start off this post with a more recent one bc it (and @xvarnah) were my inspirations to make this :3
So I was playing SMITE a couple weeks ago and I had just unlocked Baba Yaga (this was before I bought all the gods at once for 17 bucks so I actually went ahead and earned baba). I was still extremely new to the game so I was still playing in groups of people who were new as well, still using the base characters like Neith and Ares. Anyways, I started a game up with some classmates and there was a Neith player and an Anubis player in there. Immediately in the chat the Neith player starts popping up messages like 'Omg baba!' and stuff. I typed some stuff back to keep them entertained bc I was happy to be playing her too.

Anyways the match begins and we start running to get some buffs for experiences and shit. While playing as baba your chicken legged house follows you around and gives you bonuses when you stand next to it. Now, these new players were, well, NEW, so they didn't know how to use the chat within a match (and neither did I tbh), but oh my lord you should've seen it bc while we were waiting for the camp monsters to spawn this neith and anubis were circling my house and jumping all over the place bc they had never seen baba before and the idea of this weird chicken house following me around entertained them to no end. It was so pure and adorable and I loved it so much. I love new players in games, even if its hard to play with them there's always a sense of wonder and enjoyment out of them that I always cherish, especially when I'm the new player as well lol
I played a game called Tribes (turns out the full title was Starsiege Tribes) back in the late 90s. It was an online first person shooter with various light, medium, and heavy classes that each had really unique abilities/weapon sets. None of that mattered so much. They also had jetpacks that could be used with in-game "physics" to launch you across huge maps and right into your enemy's base. Think: fly high, quick tap jump as you slide down a hill, and blast that jetpack as you shoot up another like a ramp. It was a fun game, but nothing compared to capping your enemy's flag at a thousand miles per hour shooting through their front door before they could build defenses.
Yeah, the game came out in 1998. I'm sure it didn't age well, who knows. I'm old but had a lot of fun playing it as a kid!
I have recently purchased legend of Zelda breath of the wild. It is my first LOZ ever and my first Nintendo system. I had a really hard time getting comfortable with the new controllers and game play. I suck. So I decided to go online and explore how to get better both in the game and the system itself without getting to much spoilers. I ended up on Reddit and had asked this one dude (that's his user name thisonedude) for help and we ended being good friends. I am now more comfortable with the game and getting to really enjoy video games again.
Back when Halo 3 came out me and my friend were playing online matches and on this one match we were like 15 kills away from winning and the enemy team only needed 3-4 kills. SOMEHOW our team pulled together and actually stuck by each other instead of running away and getting killed one by one and we caught up. It came down to we only needed 2 kills and they needed 1. Our whole team was inside this shield just waiting and these 2 guys came to try to kill us and we killed one of them but the other guy saw we were in a shield so he retreated for backup and my friend chased his ass down and managed to get the kill and we won.
The first time I played Minecraft. I was kind of scared that I might end up between pros and have no idea what to do. But there was this one guy, he came to me, we talked a little and then he showed me how things work on servers and all. He was like with me for 3 hours and I was so happy. Later we exchanged our discord. We used to play everyday. But one day he told me that he was gonna take a break. That was our last talk.
The one chatroom I was ever involved with was only around when Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 came out. I was really young and that was the first time I had ever met so many people that liked superheroes as much as me, and also the first time anyone has ever complimented me that wasn't obligated to.
There weren't a lot of ways for dorky kids to talk to other dorky kids in the American south back then, so that was a good experience that helped me learn how to make friends.
