I THINK at least one of these allegations brought forward is true. I THINK that statements made by the man himself certainly don’t make it seem less likely that these allegations are true. I can PROVE nothing. So as unpopular a sentiment it is, as polarizing as the man is; I’d have to agree that not liking a guy, or feeling and thinking with every fiber of your being based on hearsay and circumstantial evidence- isn’t enough to call someone a rapist. We can say “accused rapist.” That is true. But- we face a slippery slope there don’t we, when we talk about allowing allegations to be held against a person in formal law or society?
If all that is required to stop a person from a job is an allegation- then all you have to do to get your way if you want to stop them is accuse right? Even harsh punishments for malicious accusations do t undo the harm of the thing do they? But at the same time- Jackson was accused for decades of being a pedophile- it has never been proven in court. So... would you let your child go play with him unsupervised if he were still alive? Hmmm....
It’s a sticky issue- but I suppose that on an individual level, we have to make judgments about people without having all the details on everything. There are some things we can never know. But presumption of innocence is important- we also need to limit the use of power and position to avoid justice and resolution of allegations too of course.
We can just put a star next to his name and call him spesho. Turn the fucking star upside down though.
Interesting plot point in FF14, that's exactly what Ishgard is doing; claiming peeps are heretics and killing them. The scope of it truly gets wild.
Actually that just insults stars. Perhaps we invent a new medal. Don't call it medal of dumbass, as that's too obvious.. I got it. Let us call it "the glowing medal"... and tell him he cannot achieve it while being president so he fucking quits and chases that.
It's a bit more complicated than that. There's a process within the process and then there are other rules and then.. basically a politician is going to either be 1) genuinely good for their cause, which is rare 2) a schemer 3) a total propped up assclown
